All items in one ad, or one ad for each item?

Postby Chief Geek on Mon Nov 24, 2008 4:57 pm

Many people like to save time by making a single ad with a whole bunch of items for sale in them - It's quicker and more convenient, to be sure.

But does it sell you ad faster ?

Take a look at it from the buyers' point of view: They've come to the website, hoping to find a power drill for sale; Right now, there are about 400 or so ads that are currently active;

If you've got an ad entitled "Lots of items for sale" and someone else has an add entitled "Maquita reversible impact drill for sale", which ad do you think the buyer is going to click on ?

Yes, it takes mroe time to make up an ad for each item, but your results will nearly always be more effective if you make one ad for each item for sale. This is true in any advertising (Radio, Print, Television, Internet)

Plus, the PennnyPincherNewspaper.com is free, so it certainly isn't as if you are limited by the number of characters per ad, or by an advertising budget :)

Remember, too, that our site is heavily indexed by Google, Yahoo, MSN and other search engines - The more specific your ad, the more people around the world, not just locally, will see - and want to buy - your ad!

Hi Marc!

You are so right, from a Sellers and Buyers point-of-view I have to agree that single ads, especially with a picture, sell much faster than 1 listing with multiple items. As soon as I see a bunch of things I am not interested in, I close that ad and move on. Your site is great because you have the search engines to narrow the field. Keep up the good work! Michaela.
